Looking at the reviews for the Fitbit Ace, I wanted to get firsthand experience to know if it truly is the right fitness tracker for my kids. It actually lived up to expectations. If you want to know more, check my review of this product.
A brief overview of the product
The Fitbit Ace is a fitness tracker that was specifically designed for kids so that you can track how active they are outdoors. You get to see the number of steps they had and how active they were during the day. You can even track their sleep using the Fitbit Ace. And since this product was designed by Fitbit, a well-known brand name in the fitness tracker industry, you can be sure that it was made to be a high-quality fitness tracker that will provide whatever you need to track your child’s fitness goals.
Who is this product for?
Of course, since the Fitbit Ace was made for children, it should be worn and used by children who are actively engaging in sports, outdoor games, and other physical activities fit for their age. In that sense, it was made for both the young athlete and the playful child. However, on the other end, it is also a product for parents in the sense that they should be able to use it to track their children’s fitness goals. It allows the parents to use the fitness data gathered by the Fitbit Ace to analyze how to improve the child’s athletic performance and to see how far he/she has progressed in his fitness goals.
Key features and benefits
- All-day tracking
As long as the Fitbit Ace is safely on the wrist of your child, it will track his/her activities throughout the entire day. It counts how many steps he/she has made that day while also monitoring his/her active minutes. And if your child wears it during his/her sleep, you can even see how much sleep he/she has had that day. You can use all of the data gathered by the Fitbit Ace to improve your child’s athletic performance and overall fitness level.
- Fun for kids
The Fitbit Ace provides a bit of a fun experience to kids wearing them. Whenever your child reaches a goal, the fitness tracker rewards them with celebratory messages and achievement badges they can proudly show to their friends. Your child can even go and compete with other children on who has the most badges, achievements, and steps. It is the healthy and active kind of fun your child needs in this digital age we live in.
The truth is that active kids cannot avoid playing with water from time to time. To that end, the Fitbit Ace is splash proof and will be able to resist splashes and spills that happen when your child plays with water or under the rain with his/her friends, teammates, and classmates.
- Adjusts to your growing child
Though the Fitbit Ace comes in only one size, it was made to be adjustable so that your child can still wear it even when he/she is still growing. It was specifically designed with the growing child in mind and will more than likely fit kids with wrists of up to six inches in diameter.
- iOS and Android compatibility
the Fitbit Ace app is fully compatible with iOS and Android phones. That allows you and your child to sync the stats accumulated in the Fitbit Ace with your mobile phones and devices so that you can get a better view of the data in case you are using it to further improve your child’s performance or if you just simply want to check out his/her progress.
What we like
- Tracks your child’s progress the entire day and even during his/her sleep.
- It adjusts to your child’s wrist as he/she grows.
- Allows you to easily see data through your mobile device via the Fitbit app.
What we don’t like
- It does not have the best battery life and its battery life also quickly deteriorate.
- The band might be too small for larger kids.
- The screen might be too narrow for you to actually see what is on it.
FAQ and additional tips
- Does it have alarms or sounds when it notifies your child?
Yes. It has a silent alarm that will vibrate on the wrists to notify your child of any goals he/she reached or of other notifications.
- Does it track calories burned?
Yes. However, you can only see the calories burned by using the app on your mobile device.
- Can it track workouts?
Unfortunately, there is no workout mode on the Fitbit Ace. It only tracks your child’s active minutes and will not track any individual workouts he/she did throughout the day.
- How long does the battery life last?
Ideally, the Fitbit Ace is supposed to last for four to five days. However, there are reviews that say that their products only last a couple of days before they need to be charged again. It probably depends on how often the fitness tracker is used and how active the wearer is.
The Fitbit Ace is one of the better fitness trackers you can buy for your child. It gives you a bit of everything. It counts their active minutes and steps while also tracking their sleep. And through the Fitbit app on your phone, you can get a better idea of how the data gathered by the Fitbit Ace affects their overall health. The biggest downside is the battery life, which some reports say does not last long. Since I have not encountered such a problem, there is no reason why I should not recommend this fitness tracker for your child. Check this out if you want to learn more about it.
